Little Stars Baby & Toddler Group
Little Stars Baby and Toddler group runs every Thursday 9.30-11.30 am. It is based at Nettlesworth Community Centre just off the A167, and was set up in 2016 from a National Lottery grant through Kimblesworth and Nettlesworth Community Task Force.
Little Stars is ran wholely by volunteers who are all mums with different experience, backgrounds and lifestyles, helping us to relate to the many parents and carers who attend.
Our aim for the group is to support the local community and to be fully inclusive to all who wish to access it. The group was set up to provide a social support network for local parents and carers who live in the area. Little Stars provides the residents of Nettlesworth and surrounding areas with a place to come with their children which is safe, educational and friendly. We provide an enjoyable environment not just for the child but also for the carer, where they get the chance to socialise with others.
We thrive on the fact that we run a group that we believe is accessible to all. Our entrance fee is £1.50 per child per week (6mths-6years) and 50p for babies under 6mth old; this includes a healthy snack and drink for the child and a hot drink and biscuit for carers.
Should a parent/career find themselves unable to pay due to their circumstances Little Stars still welcomes those in need to the group, we feel it’s extremely important for carers to integrate and socialise with their children for both their benefit. Should this happen we urge the carer to speak in confidence to one of our volunteers to enable them to come and join us.
We have a wide range of people attending the group with the children from mums, grandmas and more recently we have had an increase of dads and grandads bringing their child/grandchildren to the group, which we feel speaks volumes to what a friendly and lovely group we are!
Through the year we celebrate national festivals such as Easter, Halloween and Christmas with special crafts and activities and parties and also host trips in the local children’s activities such as the Theatre for Christmas performances!
